About us

Sovereign Grace Baptist Church is an independent reformed church formed in the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide in 1979 by christians who were concerned to uphold the historic teachings of the baptists.

We seek to conform our teaching and practice to the revelation of God’s word and believe that there is always a need to search our hearts and ways and be ready to correct them if necessary – thus we are a reforming church.

What we believe

We adhere to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith which is generally aligned to all the historic Protestant confessions of faith.

Some of the things we believe and teach:

  • The bible is the inspired word of God.
  • The bible teaches what we are to believe about God and what duty He requires of us.
  • God controls all things.
  • Jesus Christ is “God manifest in the flesh”. He is the Lord and head of the church.
  • Salvation was purchased by Jesus Christ for all His people through His sinless life, substitutionary death and physical resurrection.
  • God commands all people to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • It is the obligation of all who profess to be christian to live in accordance with God’s word and to join themselves to a biblical christian church.
